Diversity 'is vital for talent management'

employee retention schemes.The Opening Up Talent for Business Success: Integrating Talent Management and Diversity report, published by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), highlighted the benefits of seeking workers from the "widest possible pool".

Claire McCartney, co-author of the study and resourcing adviser at CIPD said: "The reality is that many organisations are not recruiting and developing the best possible candidates because they have not built diversity considerations into their talent management approaches."

She also claimed that companies should view diversity and talent management as important during times of economic uncertainty, as taking on and retaining a pool of talented workers will provide them with a competitive advantage.

The recent Changing Face of Reward report, carried out by management consulting firm Hay Group, showed firms are continuing to use employee reward and recognition schemes as the recession ends.
