A lot of people in the current society are benefiting from flexible working, one specialist has insisted.

Developments such as new IT technology, virtual client networks, smartphones and social media mean that people can now work away from their offices with less hassle than in previous years, a representative from Total Conflict Management (TCM Group) believes.

David Liddle, founder and director of TCM Group, said: "I think companies should be more flexible and [they] are being a lot more flexible."

However, Mr Liddle conceded that, while there are a number of advantages to flexible working, a drawback of it is that people potentially do not connect with each other in the same way they do in person.
