IPC Media set to trial homeworking during Olympics

IPC Media has confirmed that it is trialling homeworking with journalists at three of its titles during the Olympics.
The move has been made in a bid to cut down on office space in central London and could lead to improved employee motivation among 20 workers at Soaplife, Chat It's Fate and Goodtoknow.co.uk, reports the Guardian.
Speaking to the newspaper, a representative from IPC Media said: "IPC introduced modern working last year which has created a more flexible environment and is a move away from an 'owned' desk environment to one with more team space and alternative work settings."
They added that the homeworking trial is an "extension of modern working".
By enabling staff to work remotely, businesses can gain many benefits, including improved motivation and financial savings.
While workers would usually have to pay to travel into their office, home working enables them to carry out their daily duties without splashing out on train tickets.
