Microsoft has altered how it sells software to schools and students in an effort to stop the wrong people receiving

The firm has been known to offer its Office program with a significant discount to workers in the education sector, but students and staff will now have to provide the company with a valid educational email address, reports Computing.co.uk.

Bob Tarzey, an analyst with research firm Quocirca, told the news provider: "Microsoft needs to make sure that the deal expires when the student ceases to be a student, so that will involve some sort of annual renewal."Mr Tarzey commented that Microsoft will be eager to continue offering affordable versions of its software to students.
