recruiters prepare for major employee benefits change

employee benefits with the introduction of pensions auto-enrolment, it has been claimed. The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has highlighted the launch of its support programme designed to help companies adjust to the new system, in which those temporary workers spending 12 weeks or longer on assignment will be automatically entered into the company's pension scheme.

Scott Pendry, policy advisor at the REC, said that the changes to employee benefits are being phased in and will not impact every recruiter until 20012.

"It is important to start getting to grips with the practical implications of auto-enrolment," he explained.

Mr Pendry said that a forthcoming briefing will prepare companies to begin disseminating information through to their businesses, as well as their clients and workers.

Recent research published by the National Association of Pension Funds has found that one in three people signing up for a new job do not ask whether a pension is provided, meaning that many of these workers may only get the full benefit of their employee benefits when auto-enrolment is brought into effect.ADNFCR-1706-ID-800788336-ADNFCR
