Tuesday, 7 February 2012

Workers at charity Rochdale and District Mind have been given

rochdale and district mind recognised with award

staff recognition in the shape of the Mental Health First Aid Champions award.

It was presented by Lord Patel and Simon Weston, rewarding people in the organisation who have worked to promote mental health, wellbeing and increase knowledge of mental health issues.

Chief executive of the charity Tricia Hornby said: "Most people are familiar with first aid training for physical health but up to now mental health has been largely ignored."

Ms Hornby added that knowledge of how to respond to mental distress is equally as vital as providing first aid with regard to physical health.

Her comments come after the Sentinel reported that workers at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire were given an award for their work to keep people healthy.

Eight members of the hospital's team were handed the Nursing Times award in the cardiac nursing category.ADNFCR-1706-ID-801284384-ADNFCR
