British companies have been advised to not slash their

employee benefits when reducing costs this year.

This is because doing so could put them at risk of losing their most talented staff, after a study by IntaPeople found that almost a third of companies are considering decreasing their employee offerings in 2012, reports Director of Finance Online.

Stephen Riley, sales director at IntaPeople, told the news provider: "In a time of ongoing economic uncertainty, businesses need to do whatever they can to keep hold of their best talent."

Mr Riley went on to say that, in order to keep staff, benefits packages that can compete on national and international levels should be introduced.

The importance of employee benefit schemes was recently outlined by a Mercer study, which found that 45 per cent of employers see managing the initiatives as this year's biggest test.

Also, 84 per cent have cited benefit schemes as one of their top three priorities.ADNFCR-1706-ID-801286848-ADNFCR
