long service award to its most loyal member of staff, it has been reported.According to the diyweek.net, Carr Gate Garden Centre in Wakefield held a special presentation ceremony on August 16th to celebrate the fact that goods in supervisor Tony Day had worked there for 40 years.

Mr Day was rewarded for his continued loyalty with a long service medal from the Royal Horticultural Society, a commemorative badge, an engraved glass tankard and £100 in high street vouchers.

Anthony Molloy, manager of the Carr Gate Garden Centre, told the news provider: "We are extremely grateful for the dedication shown during the past 40 years by Tony."

Mr Day added that he had enjoyed working at the garden centre for the past four decades because of its "great team spirit" and the strong relationships he has built up with colleagues.

Earlier this month, the Hartlepool Mail reported that local construction company Yuill Homes handed out long service awards to a group of four workers who had put in 130 years with the firm between them.
